The end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 saw me collaborating with Katrina Shpagina on a stop motion animation ‘Spirit of Ukraine’ – beautiful and very touching historical journey of Ukraine solidifying its identity through culture, language, folklore and sadly, periods of oppression. It was a great opportunity for me to familiarise myself more in dept with Ukrainian cultural symbols as a country neighbouring to Poland. I can’t help but compare our similarities and differences both visually as well as musically. Our cultures are separate entities with its own history and mentality.
The animation premiered in my hometown, Kalisz at Akcelerator Kultury in the beginning of January 2026 and is now being actively pitched to international festivals. I’m really excited to see where this journey takes us and how can we keep Ukraininan spirit alive and thriving, especially in such a difficult historical moment…
